Cathedral City gets its name from nearby cathedral like rock formations of the San Jacinto Mountain. "Cat City" as it is affectionately known by locals, is located between Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage. It has the second highest population of the Coachella Valley. Ground breaking for a Casino and Amphitheatre are slated for 2018 as well as revamping the I-Max into a live theatre venue. Cat City celebrates its Latino population with the annual Mexican Independence Day Festival held on the third weekend in September.  It also is Host to an Easter Egg Hunt, Farmers Market, and several other outdoor events. Homes in this area are very affordable and share western views of the San Jacinto Mountain, The Santa Rosa Mountain Range, and The Chocolate Mountain Range.
